CTV News

As you may or may not know, CTV aired a clip with me talking about the Interurban rail line. I would like to point out a few things that are missing from the interview.

The reporter mentions that there are some challenges with the line. The first challenge is that the rails would have to be replaced. This cost is covered within the $6m/km UMA/City of Surrey study and the $27m/km DLR/Translink study. (Again, SkyTrain costs $105m/km to $233m/km.) The second issue that he brings up is that Southern Rail is operating on the line today. The province through BC Hydro still owns the line and the passenger rights, so this would not be an issue. The finally issue is that it is not the faster way to Vancouver. This is true, but the point of the line is to connect the communities in the South of Fraser, and for that is does a great job. It goes through many of our town centers and the majority of our colleges and universities.
